De Verjaardagde Koer, Ghent
18-19.09.2026

When De Koer asked een-twee to curate their tenth-anniversary celebrations, they decided to set up the party committee – a group of dedicated volunteers with whom they shared their curatorial role. More than 70 volunteers were involved to a smaller or greater extent.
Together, over the course of eight meetings, they planned and built ‘De Verjaardag’ – a celebration that reflects the plurality of de Koer.

The venue was divided into different spaces, each of which was given its own new function and a dedicated guide. The workshop was transformed into a Jezebel Studio cabaret, the concert hall became a bowling alley with Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert, the bar turned into a quiz desk with Productions & Zonen, the cinema became a karaoke with live music by Nele De Gussem and Elien Ronse turned the old toilet block into a Souvenir Shop. Five spaces that transformed into five parallel birthday parties.

The audience wandered through the building, moving from one experience to the next. Until a march band passed through all the spaces, leading the audience to the central outdoor area for a final collective moment. Outside, the audience, the volunteers and the team of de Koer came together for the last concert.
