In the spring of 2022, Gustave Demoen was artist and curator in residence at White Garage, an art gallery in Catania, Italy. During that period, he organized four residencies, each with an exhibition or performance night attached: Dancing on the Edge of the Etna.
As a result of this residency, the idea of an ‘Etna Art & Research Center’ (or EARC for short) grew: a platform that seeks to bring together the narrative and visual aspects of the volcano Etna and develop new artistic or research projects in the future.
Part of EARC is an ever-growing collection of postcards and maps of the Etna.
